Why we built it
When you want to download the documents of a case file on the UYAP Attorney Portal, you have to open and save each document one by one — a real time sink, especially for files with many documents. So we built a Chrome extension that solves this in one click, bundling all documents into a single ZIP file.
What it does
It automatically lists all the main documents and attachments (including pagination) of a file you open on avukat.uyap.gov.tr, downloads each one in its original format (without PDF conversion), bundles them into a single .zip file and saves it to your downloads folder. There's a live progress bar during download showing file name, percentage and MB; the process can be cancelled on request.
Technical details
Built with a Manifest V3 service worker architecture. A content script running in the page's "MAIN" world captures the file ID, and a separate "ISOLATED" content script passes it to the background (service worker) — the two scripts running in separate worlds is a requirement of Chrome's security model. We use JSZip to build the ZIP; since URL.createObjectURL isn't available in a service worker, the ZIP is converted to a base64 data URL and downloaded that way. To be considerate toward the UYAP server, there are deliberate random delays between requests — we kept these delays in place to reduce the risk of the account getting flagged.

Conclusion
UYAP File Downloader is an example of our "small but solves a real problem" tool philosophy, like Uptime Bot — this time aimed at the legal community, and can be considered a sibling project to avtr.tr.
